Background

Powderham Food Festival first launched in 2012, the event was founded by Bob Small, of Posh Pig Productions. Bob organically grew the festival from a one day event to the full weekend of activities for which it is now renowned. In 2019 Powderham Castle took over the running of the Food Festival, making it the flagship event for the Castle’s growing event production team. The 2019 event was proud to be a finalist in the Exeter Living Awards Best Event Category (one of two Powderham events to reach the final stages).

In 2020 the castle, undeterred by the Coronavirus pandemic introduced a series of popular pop-up dining experiences and Christmas at the Castle, which welcomed a combined total of 25,000 visitors. Unfortunately in the Autumn of 2020 running the Powderham Food Festival became untenable, and like so many other events worldwide, the decision to postpone was reached. However, this has only been fuel to the fire of returning in 2021 and 2022 with renewed energy and ambition for the best event ever. With additional media partners, and already a flood of exhibitors keen to get back to work.

We are keen to hear from new partners to though, who will share our passion and ambition for growing our already incredible event. We believe partnerships should be exciting as well as mutually beneficial, therefore we have produced a range of brand new partnership packages for 2023 and look forward to discussing them with you soon!

About our visitors

Powderham Food Festival has enjoyed a stable visitor record over the past four years, welcoming over 6,000 visitors through the weekend.

40% of our visitors live within an hour of Powderham (Exeter, Newton Abbot, Totnes, Torquay amongst others), 55% travel for over an hour (Plymouth, Bath, Bristol and counties such as Cornwall, Dorset and Somerset) and 5% attend from further afield. For our local partners, exhibitors and sponsors this makes the Food Festival an excellent opportunity to engage with their local community and build returning customers. For businesses based outside of the region, the Food Festival can be a great launch event to reach new customers and markets here in the heart of the South West.

The Powderham Food Festival has always been a family friendly event. However since the Castle took ownership the festival has engaged and catered even more for all ages. With children’s entertainers, cooking demonstrations, games, competitions and activities the event has never been so suitable for multi-generational visitors.

On the basis of locality of ticket purchasers, ticket pricing, average visitor spending habits, and overall event location, Powderham Food Festival has always been an established ABC1 attended event.

About Our Exhibitor’s

Powderham Food Festival simply would not be as successful without the incredible exhibitors that come year after year. As with the visitor numbers the festival has benefited in recent years from a consistent number of high quality traders. Year on year over 75% of the traders are returning exhibitors. We are proud to still have some exhibitors from the first ever Powderham Food Festival in 2012. Over 90% of the exhibitors are based here in the South West.

In 2022 Powderham Food Festival will offer more Gluten Free / Dairy Free / Sugar Free products.
