About us

Bob, organiser of food festival Powderham Food Festival Director Bob Small has masterminded the growth of the Festival since its inception in 2012.  Bobs’ background as a police officer, local government officer and 30 years in event management has given him a variety of skills and knowledge which enables him to stage an event of this size.

Whilst enjoying his food, Bob does not see himself as a ‘foodie’ but admits to being far more interested in the economic benefits that the Festival brings to the wider community as a whole – sponsors, partners, exhibitors and suppliers  – all of whom are part of the financial ‘chain’ which helps drive the local economy.

Bob’s vision for the future of the Festival is to see it continue to grow and to give more pleasure to the many visitors and reward to all exhibitors and all others with a financial stake in the Festival, “Promoting the very best of Devon and South West food in such glorious surroundings makes the Powderham Food Festival a very special event”.

In his ‘down-time’, Bob is a golfer and, as such, is Hon. Secretary of Devon Men Veteran Golfers Association; he is, and always has been, a very keen runner competing for Teignbridge Trotters in events from 5K up to Half Marathon distance.

Bob admits he could not possibly stage the event without the others who form the management team – all of whom bring their special skills to the ‘party’.  In introducing them he also thanks them for their time and effort in helping to stage the Festival:

Philip Fowler, Manager of the Music Stage

My name is Philip Fowler and I have lived in Devon for 30 years. I have a small business on Dartmoor that I have run for 26 years and have many interests, especially music. I sing myself in two bands and enjoy most genre. I will be at the Festival for the whole weekend so I am looking forward to it very much.

Having performed at the Powderham Food Festival for the last 5 years I am looking forward to managing the music stage at this years event and plan to have a wide variety of different acts, including a couple of children’s school choirs, a rock band, jazz/swing, acoustic solo performers and maybe a comedian, if I can find one. If you are an aspiring performer do let me have a demo and I will have a listen and see if we are able to find you a spot. During the two days of the Festival there will be thousands of potential future fans who may get to see you.
