Powderham Food Festival Director Bob Small has masterminded the growth of the Festival since its inception in 2012. Bobs’ background as a police officer, local government officer and 30 years in event management has given him a variety of skills and knowledge which enables him to stage an event of this size.
Whilst enjoying his food, Bob does not see himself as a ‘foodie’ but admits to being far more interested in the economic benefits that the Festival brings to the wider community as a whole – sponsors, partners, exhibitors and suppliers – all of whom are part of the financial ‘chain’ which helps drive the local economy.
Bob’s vision for the future of the Festival is to see it continue to grow and to give more pleasure to the many visitors and reward to all exhibitors and all others with a financial stake in the Festival, “Promoting the very best of Devon and South West food in such glorious surroundings makes the Powderham Food Festival a very special event”.
In his ‘down-time’, Bob is a golfer and, as such, is Hon. Secretary of Devon Men Veteran Golfers Association; he is, and always has been, a very keen runner competing for Teignbridge Trotters in events from 5K up to Half Marathon distance.
Bob admits he could not possibly stage the event without the others who form the management team – all of whom bring their special skills to the ‘party’. In introducing them he also thanks them for their time and effort in helping to stage the Festival:
